Hiking Mount Major
We had the opportunity to hike Mount Major on Father's Day this past June and recommend it as an excellent hike for all ages. Mount Major is 1786 feet at its summit, with gorgeous views of Lake Winnipesaukee and Belknap Range. Its an amazing view for only a 1.5 hour hike up, 3 hour round trip. The trailhead is located southwest of Route 11 between Laconia and Alton Bay (43.5193˚N 71.2738˚W (WG584)).
As we descended the mountain we could hear the roar of motorcycles making their way around the lake on this last day of Laconia Bike Week 2009. Two groups stayed at Lakeside Promise during Bike Week and enjoyed the peaceful location and convenient access to Laconia.

Fryeburg Fair
For an authentic New England country fair, colorful foliage, and crisp Autumn air, head on over to the Fryeburg Fair in Fryeburg, Maine. Located just over the border from Conway, NH, the Fryeburg Fair is an annual favorite for fairgoers.
